Some spots can’t be taken out with water or chemicals.  Paint is an example.  When that is the case, a bonded insert is often called for.  The spot is carefully cut out of the carpet and replaced with an identical sized piece of carpet remnant or a piece from a corner of a closet.

The task may be especially challenging when the bonded insert is needed in a highly worn area of the carpet.  If this is the case, the new piece should be roughed up enough to match the carpet that it will be attached to.  Special care must be taken to make sure that the patch is oriented in the same direction as the rest of the carpet–if it isn’t, the patch will be obvious, even if it is very well-fitted.

• A name change–this one is painful and involves a lot of legwork, but I could not incorporate the company under the name “Fiber Clean.”
• New web and email addresses: keechclean.com and dan@keechclean.com.  Going to the old web address will bring you to the new one, and I’ll still answer email sent to dan@fibercleanonline.com.
• A new pricing system: this is a big change, and it works in the client’s favor: instead of dividing work between a Deep Clean and a Basic Clean, I only offer the Deep Clean now.  The price is lower than the original, and is quoted by the room instead of by square foot.  This is to make it much easier for clients and prospects (and the people who answer my phone) to quote accurately.  By driving to fewer quotes, I can save enough to make it worth using this new system.  While a few clients used only my Basic Clean, most either used the Deep Clean or chose to do some rooms with Deep Clean and others with Basic.  I tried the new pricing system on numerous invoices, and they almost all came out lower with the new system.  The ones that didn’t were close.  The result is that clients will get more cleaning for the same or less money.
